I believe that the read/write Web, or what we are calling Web 2.0, will culturally, socially, intellectually, and politically have a greater impact that the advent of the printing press.” (Hargadon, 2008) Parents, students, teachers, we are in a very exciting time! Technology is giving us new ways of communicating around the world. The purpose of this wiki is for our community of learners to explore the world of technology together. In my classroom, I hope to use our wiki space as a place to write and communicate with each other by sharing ideas. My hope is that this wiki will give us an opportunity to become authors and actually publish our work online. We will each be an author, an editor, a reader, an illustrator, a learner, a teacher, and a creator. As stated by Kress (Williams, 1997), “We know that tomorrow will not be like today. That is one of the few certainties of the present period. We can perceive only dimly what the day after tomorrow is likely to be like.” (Williams, 2008) It is my hopes, that we, together can explore new ways of literacy with this wiki, and create works unimaginable!
